Cllr Dale Roberts

Dale Roberts has lived in Woking with his wife and son for the last 25 years, and is passionate about the community he represents. Since his election to Woking Borough Council three years ago, he has championed an improvement in antisocial behaviour, secured funding for traffic calming measures along St John’s Road and campaigned for a safe crossing point near Hermitage Bridge. He has also supported residents with a range of planning issues and stalled immigration applications.

When the current Liberal Democrat administration took over in 2022, Dale took on the unenviable role of Portfolio Holder for Finance. Over the last two years, he has worked tirelessly to unpick the significant financial problems and enormous debt built up by the previous Conservative administration, and – together with the Leader of the Council – has overseen a review of the Council’s structure and services to enable the Council to provide high quality services to all residents in a financially efficient and sustainable way.

Dale’s background is in early-stage businesses, including leading European operations for global technology businesses, and he currently works as an independent consultant, an AoEC accredited coach, and a CEDR accredited mediator. He is a volunteer for Mediation Surrey where he coaches victims of anti-social behaviour. Dale is also an author of two books on digital business and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He describes himself as a reformed marathon runner, having previously competed in races in various cities around the world, and from Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazar. Today, he prefers shorter distances along the Basingstoke Canal.

Dale is delighted to restand as the Liberal Democrat candidate for St John’s in this May’s local elections, and to continue working with the existing successful Lib Dem team. A vote for Dale will help to ensure residents of St John’s re-elect a highly effective local councillor to continue working hard for them, and with the much needed financial experience to help reform Woking Borough Council.
