Dr Steve Greentree, originally from Altrincham, first moved to Woking with his wife and family almost 29 years ago when the company he worked for relocated to Guildford. He has lived in Knaphill for the last 23 years and both his girls grew up and went to school in the locality.  

After a short academic career at the university of Aberdeen, Steve worked as a scientist in the international pharmaceutical industry for over 35 years. Working with other scientists, doctors and patients he was responsible for managing complex, international, multi-million-pound projects, aimed at delivering new and novel treatments for life-changing and life-threatening diseases. Having rescued the worlds very first approved gene therapy from failure, Steve understands the importance of sound strategy, teamwork and persistence in delivering success.  

After years of hectic travel and work schedules which included a three-year spell of weekly commutes to Amsterdam and a spell living in Zurich, Steve has stepped out of the rat race to spend more time with his young grandchildren and to give something back to the local community. As a budding rock star, he’s also learning to play the electric guitar.  

When asked, Steve lists, honesty, transparency and integrity as values that he strongly believes in. He passionately believes that everyone has the right to live in an inclusive, tolerant, community and to have access to life’s opportunities. Government, including local government, should be run according to these values and principles.
