DIANA SMITH: "It's Time To Stop The Waste!"

8.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 29th Apr 2009

Diana Smith, Lib Dem County Councillor for Knaphill and Goldsworth West

It's time to stop the waste of poorly managed projects, from waste on the roads like the ludicrously delayed pedestrian crossings in Knaphill and short-term patches on potholes that wear out long before the roads are mended properly, to the millions of pounds squandered through the last-minute failure to bring County Hall to Woking.

Time to stop letting them spend money telling you Surrey is 'an outstanding council' when it is one of the four worst Councils in the country, downgraded to one star by the Audit Commission, alongside Milton Keynes, Doncaster, and Haringey.

It's time to show them what you think of a Council willing to see hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money spent trying to overturn Ofsted's judgment of 'inadequate' on Surrey's Children's Services in the High Court, only for the judge to refuse permission for them to proceed.

MOST OF ALL, ITS TIME TO STOP THE WASTE OF LIFE OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHILDREN IN NEED, VULNERABLE ADULTS, AND THEIR FAMILIES AND CARERS.
